The Army Of Lovers In The Holy Land movie was accidentally available publicly on patiphon.co.il just for few hours on October 10 and then removed. It seems it was just a mistake. However, there was another screening of the movie in the Kuli Alma club in Tel Aviv on October 20. And on November 10th, the film will close the Nordic Cinema Showcase, also in Tel Aviv. Jean-Pierre and Dominika will be present! And moreover on October 28, the movie was broadcasted by Israeli cable channel Hot8.
Since Army Of Lovers In The Holy Land is without a doubt a very important milestone in the Army Of Lovers' career, I decided to prepare a special dedicated page about this beautiful movie in the brand new section Films, where I will put all the available info about this interesting project.
The Army Of Lovers' new film won the prize the best documentary at the Haifa International Film Festival this past weekend.
According to www.haaretz.com, Army of Lovers In The Holy Land, produced by Naama Pyritz and directed by Asaf Galay, was awarded 40.000 shekels ($11.000). It tells the story of a Swedish pop group that enjoyed great popularity in the 1990s and was famous for its mix of disco, camp, and queer music along with its messages of sexual liberation. The film follows the decision by one of the group's members, Jean-Pierre Barda, to leave Sweden and immigrate to Israel under the Law of Return.
About Army of Lovers In The Holy Land, the judges said that it was "refreshing and entertaining, and describes the move from the plastic world of stiletto heels and fake diamonds to the roughness of the Israeli reality and conservatism." The judges said the film "creates entertaining and absurd moments alongside an authentic emotional process of searching and belonging."
The Haifa International Film Festival will premiere a brand new documentary Army Of Lovers In The Holy Land today! According to www.haifaff.co.il, the world premiere will take place at the Cinematheque at 18:15! The movie was directed by Asaf Galay and produced by Naama Pyritz.
Dear soldiers and Army lovers!
Welcome to www.armyoflovers.cz, a new fansite dedicated to the one and only wonder from the north! "What happened? Why now?" you may ask. I am curious myself! It's been many many years since the Army stormed European charts with their revolutionary music extravaganza. On the other hand, while observing social media like Facebook or Instagram I realize their spirit is still alive. And their fans still adore their music and style. Because there is no one like our five heroes.
Although I realize this website is not going to attract thousands of visitors every day, I am offering you this presentation of their discography and image. While I have more in my mind and some things still need to be finished, records to be scanned, time will tell. Feedback and support are much appreciated. Hope you enjoy my work as much I did creating it. M.
